Legislative and Regulatory Approval Accelerates
Momentum is building for the Clarity Act, a key piece of crypto legislation pending in Congress. According to Coinbase's Chief Policy Officer Faryar Shirzad, the bill is likely to advance despite resistance from some older Democrats, with support strongest among younger members of the party. Shirzad characterized crypto as "maybe the most bipartisan issue in Washington," suggesting potential for passage.
Stablecoin issuers are expanding their regulatory footprint through traditional banking channels. Circle, issuer of USDC, obtained a New York trust charter following federal approval to establish a national trust bank charter. These licenses enable Circle to offer fiduciary and custody services under New York banking law, representing a formal integration into the regulated financial system.
