White House and Treasury Developments
Tyler Williams, identified as a key architect of the Trump administration's digital asset agenda, has exited his role at the U.S. Treasury Department, according to reporting from Cointelegraph. Williams served as a top crypto adviser to Treasury Secretary Bessent and was instrumental in shaping the administration's approach to digital assets. His departure occurs as the administration's broader crypto policy framework faces uncertainty in Congress.
The Trump-linked American Bitcoin mining operation, a subsidiary backed by the Trump family, reported record Bitcoin production of 932 BTC in the second quarter, increasing its total holdings to over 8,000 BTC despite broader market headwinds. The operation increased its Bitcoin holdings by 14% even as Bitcoin's price declined during the period. Separately, Matt Prusak, president of American Bitcoin, has departed the firm to join Giga Energy, a move that underscores shifts in capital toward energy and data center infrastructure within the crypto ecosystem.
